What your first personal training session in Sheffield is actually like!
Taking the plunge and having your first personal training session can feel a bit unnerving, especially if you’re not that familiar with gyms. It shouldn’t be. Here’s what will actually happen, so you know what to expect!
You’ll walk into a private gym, not a sea of treadmills
You’ll walk into the private gym just off Ecclesall Road and see a few friendly faces - mine, or the other trainers who work out of the gym. I’ll give you a quick tour of the place, then get you on a bike for an easy warm-up while we chat about any injuries or health stuff we need to bear in mind, and get a bit of an idea of your current activity level.
Wear something you can move in. Trainers are fine. You don’t need a kit list. If you’re driving, there’s parking at the front of the gym or street parking adjacent to it.
Then we try some of the lifts
From there, we’ll move onto some of the exercises we’ll use if you carry on training with me. Easing in and giving these a go early doors lets us figure out what’s right for you, and gives us a bit of guidance on the kind of weights we’d use in future sessions.
We’ll run through a range of movements, testing the waters - and have a decent chat in between about your goals and how life actually looks at the moment.
Cool-down, options, no hard sell
Once the hour’s up, we’ll have a bit of a cool-down, then go through what might be right for you: sessions per week, what things cost, and so on. I’ll give you the options and leave it with you from there.
If you know you’re good to crack on, we’ll get you booked in for your next session and signed up to the training app. From there you’ll get custom workouts from me, a food journal so we can work on nutrition, weekly check-ins, and more.
If you’d like to see if I can help you, book a free consultation. You can get more details about in-person coaching here - it’s in a private gym just off Ecclesall Road, from £47.50 a session.
Either way: you show up, we lift a bit, we talk, and you leave knowing what working together would actually look like.
